The Witch’s Wound in our Business
When we talk about mindset, one of the most intriguing aspects is what I call the "Witch's Wound." This is not about witchcraft or anything mystical per se, but rather a deep-seated fear that many women carry—an inherited fear of persecution. This fear can manifest as a reluctance to show up fully in our businesses, a fear of being judged, criticized, or misunderstood. Historically, women were persecuted for standing out, for being different, for being powerful. This collective trauma has been passed down through generations, deeply embedded in our DNA, impacting how we show up today.
Understanding this wound is crucial for female entrepreneurs who find themselves hesitating to share their truth or their work with the world. This fear of showing up, of speaking out, often stems from a subconscious fear of rejection and isolation—a fear that can feel as dire as a threat to our very survival. In the past, being cast out from the community was indeed life-threatening. Today, while the stakes aren't the same, our bodies still react with anxiety and fear as though they were. Recognizing this inherited trauma is the first step in overcoming it.
Overcoming the Witch’s Wound requires us to acknowledge and explore these fears. Ask yourself: What exactly am I afraid of? Is it rejection, failure, betrayal, or something else? By pinpointing these fears, you can begin to dismantle them. It's about breaking the cycle and allowing yourself to heal from the past. A powerful tool in this healing process is understanding your archetype—what drives your fear. For instance, my own fear of betrayal as a dragon archetype was something I had to work through to openly share my business strategies and ideas.
Embracing your unique voice and gifts is a transformative journey. While someone might replicate your methods or ideas, they can never replicate your essence, your passion, or your journey. This understanding frees you to show up authentically and powerfully. As we heal these wounds, we liberate ourselves to create and lead with authenticity, stepping into our power with confidence.
